Bluebell Vineyard Wedding
I met Sam & Nikki quite a few years ago when I shot Nikki’s borthers wedding. It’s always great for me when heading to a wedding in the morning and I have met the families before, so having met some of the family I was looking forward to seeing a few familiar faces.
Nikki & Sam chose Bluebell Vineyard wedding venue in East Sussex as the location for their day for a few reasons. They wanted something a bit different, and I think they succeeded here, I mean firstly there aren’t too many vineyards in the UK. But in the way that farms have become almost normal as a venue, I don’t think vineyards have really aquired that notoriety. Bluebell Vineyard is a blank canvas, the barn is almost completely ‘natural’, you create your own thing. Sam & Nikki wanted something subtle and classy, so the barn was actually left quite natural, with hay bales as seats, fairy lighing in the rafters, beer barrels as tables, and a pop up local craft beer stand!
Bluebell Vineyard, A rustic wedding venue with unique charm.
The vineyard is set in the beautiful South Downs. It’s green & leafy, and the beautiful views look out to the limestone hills and across the vineyards. If you haven’t been to South Downs I really recommend a visit, it’s a beautiful area packed full of Britishness.
The day was mostly an outside event, which in the UK is always a risk. But, nothing the British stiff upper lip can’t deal with! We had a bit of wind and rain, but that actually created a cosy feeling in the barn. Later in the day, after becoming husband and wife, Sam & Nikki took a walk through the vines (scroll down for those pictures) and enjoyed together their first alone moments as husband and wife. And after some great speeches, the party really kicked off and carried on into the evening. Everyone got in on the dance floor action!
Bluebell Vineyard wedding venue, on the site of a former pig farm, produced it’s first wine in 2007. The natural beauty of the area makes itan ideal place to have a wedding with a rustic soul, everything about a vineyard sparks off feelings of somewhere warmer and more exotic, Tuscany it may not be, but this vineyard has a personality of its own.
Well we are in England, and we may have been in a vineyard, but a California vineyard it’s not, so it’s probley going to rain. Anyway, stay calm and keep dry.
Bluebell vineyard wedding veune is a working vineyard growing premium quality Chardonnay, Pinot Noir. The thing I like about a working vineyard is that it’s authentic , I prefer to shoot the authentic, real life things, real life people. It’s partly why shooting weddings is great, there’s real life emotions and feeling. We took a walk in the evening so Sam & Nikki could spend some moments on their day alone.
Everyone knows the point of the Best Mans speech is to embarrass the Groom. Job done on this occasion.
