I thank-fully, have such great clients! I often receive an excited email from a bride or groom in the early stages of planning their wedding. My clients seem to have a very good idea of what it is they want from their wedding, and this usually means that they are looking for photography that has a style of its own, and something that is going to do their plans justice.
When I first heard from Charlotte she told me about their (slightly crazy) plans for their wedding later in the year in Hampshire, and I knew right away that I had to shoot their day, and Charlotte & Rich seemingly had already decided that I will be their photographer. Win win! More about the day itself in another post!
In the meantime we went for an explore of some of the local countryside around the Farnham area, in an place that spoke to Charlotte and rich’s style. They both love Gothic architecture, not something that’s easy to get unrestricted access to, luckily I knew somewhere, and the whole area fitted well with their style. Charlotte & Rich had a clear vision of their day, they had a specific look they were aiming at and knew how to proceed (as I say more on the big day in another post). I think it’s really important to do your research on every element of your wedding, so not only can you get an idea of what you do like, but you can by process of elimination disguard what you don’t like.
By eliminating what you don’t like, you can really quickly focus in and begin to get an idea of your tastes, and a vision for your day will begin to come together.
How does this help with your photography?
When Charlotte got in touch with me a year or so before the wedding, she already knew exactly what herself & Rich wanted in terms of the style of their photography. And it didn’t take much convincing for me to agree to photo the day, so after a chat about the details the plan was in place. The wedding date had not actually confirmed yet because they first wanted to make sure I was available. Luckily one of their date choices I had free, so they got booking the venue etc.
The fact that Charlotte & rich had such a clear vision for the day meant that they could very quickly filter out the type of photography they were not looking for, and eventually arrive at the decision that my style was for them. And what is that style? Well first & maybe foremost, Charlotte and Rich have a unique style themselves, something a little alternative & awesome about them. Take your own style and rock it! And my approach to photographing a wedding probley doesn’t fit with that usual cookie cutter, fluffy wedding day look. I’m not really sure how to describe what I do, but I love to seek out the real stuff, ‘warts & all’. Those are the things that will make you laugh & cry for years to come.
I know a few cool places around the Farnham area, as a Farnham wedding photographer it’s my job to come up with locations that suit you & your style. Charlotte and Rich have a wicked alternative/dark & moody style, so I found them someone with mood and atmosphere.
