Hotel Formentor, Mallorca Wedding Weekender
Heading back to one of my favourite destinations in the world, the Mediterranean island of Mallorca for this Mallorca Wedding Weekender. In case you aren’t familiar with the island, it is one the Spanish Baleric islands situated in the beatiful Mediterranean Sea. It is pretty well known by European tourists, esspecially for the standard beach holiday, or for groups of roudy British Hen & Stag type holidays. However, escape those standard tourist areas and Mallorca has so much more to offer than a beach or drinking holiday. I love coming here, and any excuse to visit the island I’ll take, so I didn’t need convincing to head out there for another wedding!
Tom & Jenny had some pretty big plans for their Mallorca Wedding Weekender, spread over a few days. The main day itself being set at the Hotel Formentor, in the incredible landscape of Formentor, in the North of the island. And then the next day being set out on the sea for the very traditional Britsh tradition of drinking a bit too much and having a good time!
I spent a few days before the wedding exploring Mallorca before this weekends Hotel Formentor wedding. Palma was where I headed first, one of my favourite cities in the world, to wander the sun drenched streets and alleys, gorgeous Spanish courtyards, colonial architecture mixed with modern interior design, and spotless seafront looking out across the sparkling Med. After a day sipping cold Spanish beer I spent a few days hiking in the incredible scenery of the North and West of the island.
The day of the wedding came. The morning was spent in a modern airy suite overlooking the beautiful emerald blue water of Pollenca Bay. They said their vows in the heat of the Mediterranian sun with the sound of waves breaking on the shore. Spanish wine was consumed in the evening while speeches were made and the sun slowly dropped behind the mountains. They then were paraded down to the beach front to the sound of Scottish bag-pipes, where some they danced until 3am to their amazing band.
The next day! This was a slighly more livley day, with two boat fulls of enthusiasic friends and family setting off out into the clear blue water for some spirited drinking and dancing. These guys know how to party, it was awesome! Everyone made it back to shore, I believe, which finished off a beatifully planned, one off experience for Bride+Groom, and all their family and friends!
