I really do love the wilderness and the great outdoors, it’s beautiful and peaceful. The city though has something special, each one is unique in this varied country of ours. Art and innovation, food & drink, all types of sounds and smells. So when James and Jess asked me to shoot their wedding in Bath city I jumped at the chance. Theres tonnes of history in Bath, so much to see and do, for some ideas click here. Baths architecture is mostly constructed from the beautifully toned Cotswold stone, it brings natural elements from the surrounds hills into the city centre.
James & Jess fell in love with Bath when they moved here for work a few years ago, their enthusiasm for the city is infectious and I definately have the bug, as a photographer and as a lover of places with personality. The obvious next step was to plan their wedding in Bath. More on the actual big day in a later post! Today though we are in the beautiful city and we went exploring around the historic streets and alleyway. I don’t really know my way around Bath so for me it was just a great opportunity for a free guided tour. A great thing about shooting around the city is they are ‘weather proof’. No mud and deep puddles to worry about, we did have good weather today but if not it’s all good, we’d just get a bit rained on. Having your wedding in a city is definately something to consider, I have shot lots of weddings in the city and despite bad weather you can still get outside for great pictures without worrying about ruining those Jimmy Choos.

Nearly everywhere in Bath looks good, being a photographer in this city it’s easy to be inspired. I love shooting in cities anyway, the light, architecture, shapes and textures, all make for great wedding photos. In Bath, the beautiful honey coloured Cotswold stone gives the unique charecter to the scene, you know exactly in the world where you are when you see photographs of this city.
